When I first saw “The 13th Gift”, its beautiful cover and catchy synopsis quickly caught my attention. I looked forward to curling up on the sofa and reading a warm Christmas miracle story kind of book. How quickly my idea of enjoying this book came to an abrupt halt!

Enter the surprise: foul language! Nowhere in the synopsis or anywhere else had I seen anything about bad language being this in publication. So when I found the first bad word, I was pretty shocked. This was supposed to be a sweet true story about Christmas miracles. Yet when I tried to continue in reading, I couldn’t get past page seven because by that time there had been three more times of foul language. That brought it to a total of four occasions.

I’m the kind of person who finishes what she starts, but when it came to finishing “The 13th Gift”, I couldn’t do it. Honestly, I couldn’t bring myself to read a book that continually has words in it that my mother would’ve never let me say or read. To the author and publisher, I’m sorry but when you publish a book that takes the beautiful art of language and twists it by using foul language, you lose my support. To me, “The 13th Gift” will go down in my “never read or recommend” list.

Note: I received this book for free from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.
